Category: accessible Devices
Just in case anyone is interested: the site below will bring you to where they sell accessible mp3 players all ready installed with the rockbox software, headphones, fm radios, and some will let you record small notes. It deals mainly with the sansa E200 and up series and another I can't remember and all are under $100. They also offer weekly specials on players and accessories and the players will take mp3, mp4, wma files and almost all audio files and some will take video movie files too.
Anyway, I just found it and thought I'd put it here.

well, their good if you want a cheap mp3 player,
but if your looking to get some good technoligy, invest in an iPod tutch!
just saying.
well I didn't know there was talking mp3 players lerking around, might just go and check this out
I have a fourth generation iPod nano that has a checkbox in iTunes for allowing spoken capability. I love it!!
Also, if you feel technically inclined yourself, you can get refurbished players like the Sansa Clip for down to $25 on sales (buy.com often has them this cheap), 2 or 4gb. Then you can load the Rockbox software onto them yourself and have a very cheap player to use. They are $80 or $90 with everything preinstalled.
Don't get me wrong, they are not always this cheap and there is a lot to be said for getting a preconfigured mp3 player, and I like the site and the service, but the nerd in me would want to go as cheaply as possible and try it out myself, and for those who are nerdy enough, this is also an option.
Although it is more in the Daisy player / VR Stream category, I have been using the Milestone 312 player from a Swiss company called Bones, and it is fantastic. Recording quality is superb, the player playes the necessary formats (minus so far, the NLS format I think, it does play Nemas, but I am not sure these are the same things), it is much smaller than all the other players on the market and only has 5 buttons for operation, also has alarm calendar, radio and an RFID scanner.
I am not affiliated with thoes guys *grin* but I am thorroughly impressed with the player and recommend it for anyone who is looking into VR Stream like devices, the price should be very comparible.
I have a stream and quite like it but recently it died and paying to have it fixed might be more than my wallet can handle. I've been looking at the accessible electronics site and wondered how rockbox on a regular mp3 player stacks up against a milestone or a victor stream. I like all of the features of the stream, but wanting something cheeper and smaller and wondering if the rockbox ones are worth the time and money. Please let me know.
they work find but they are more intended for behind the wheel driver accessibility more so than the accessibility you are used to. For example it will spell folder names or go through them by numbers insted of actuallying saying the name.
I like the mp3 players with rockbox installed. I get those e-mails each week and there is also a UK seller, although I can't remember his name.
